Principal's Welcome

Greetings,

I am beyond excited to welcome you and your students to the 2018-2019 school year!  It is with great honor and enthusiasm that I join the Curtis community as the new principal.  Our staff has worked hard to ensure your students have a wonderful school year.

While new to Curtis, I have long called San Bernardino City Unified School District home.  I have been an educator for the last fifteen years, most of which have been served within the district.  Prior to joining Curtis, I served as a teacher, instructional coach, and vice principal.  For the last three years, I have worked in the private sector and for our county office of education working with districts and school sites throughout the state to improve student climate, mainly through implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and more recently, Restorative Practices.

At Curtis, we strive to create a safe, welcoming, high-achieving, and equitable school that meets the needs of those we serve.  Here, your student will enjoy an engaging, rigorous course of study that will prepare them for college, career, and beyond.  Our STEM Program is just one example of our commitment to providing students an opportunity to gain the crucial knowledge and skills needed for success in the 21st century.  In addition, because we understand the importance of positive and supportive school climates, Curtis will continue to implement and evolve in our implementation of PBIS and Restorative practices.

I look forward to partnering with staff, families, students, and the community at large to build on the strong foundation that exists at Curtis as we continue our journey to excellence.  Because parent and community engagement matters, I strongly encourage you to join our School Site Council (SSC), English Learner Advisory Council (ELAC), and/or our African American Parent Advisory Committee (AAPAC).

It truly takes a village and I am glad to be a part of this one.

In Partnership,

LaTanya Greer, JD, Ed.D
